Sabrina Jedlicka
Dr. Sabrina Jedlicka is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering as well as the Department of Bioengineering. She has been a member of Lehigh’s faculty since 2008. From 2020-2023, she served as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science, overseeing both the undergraduate and graduate programs in the college. She also serves as the director of the Rossin College interdisciplinary capstone program, which is designed to enable student mindset and skillset development through real-world engineering problems posed by industry partners.
Her research interests focus on the fundamental interactions between mammalian cells and materials. Spanning a range of cell types (from human stem cells to microorganisms) and a range of materials, students in her lab strive to develop new materials, expand knowledge around biophysical models, and improve healthcare solutions. She has obtained several grants from the National Science Foundation, as well as Lehigh internal research grants.
She has received awards from the National Science Foundation, the Institute of Biological Engineering, Lehigh University, Purdue University, and Kansas State University. She has served in several volunteer positions for the Institute of Biological Engineering. From April 2021 - April 2022, she served as the President of the Institute of Biological Engineering.
